Top 28 Wisconsin Bike Trails by Coffeehouses
Trendy coffee shops have been popping up near many Wisconsin Bike Trails. It seems that a cup of java, hot or iced, is never far away at a local coffee bar. These paths feature nearby diners, restaurants, and coffeehouses that cater to trail-goers. Some coffee shops are a few blocks away, but many are directly on a bike route.
#1 Green State Circle Trail
The Green Circle Trail makes its way through Pfiffner Pioneer Park in downtown Stevens Point. Just blocks from the trail are three coffeehouses. Bustling Ruby Coffee Roasters Café serves great-tasting coffee drinks and light fare, mostly all organic. Emy J’s Coffeehouse features house-roasted coffee and farm-to-table food, including vegan fare. Mission Coffee House is located inside Midstate Technical College. To support their community, they donate their proceeds to area nonprofit organizations. Additionally, Starbucks is located in Metro Market on the west side of Stevens Point, a block west of Iverson Trail and Main Street.
#2 Lake Country Trail: Pewaukee to Delafield
As it travels through Waukesha County in southeastern Wisconsin, this section of the Lake Country Trail has several places to stop for coffee, sweet baked goods, or ice cream treat. Starbucks and Crumbl Cookies are located by the trail at the intersection of Wisconsin State Highway 83. In downtown Delafield, two coffeehouses tempt trail-goers. Steeplechase Coffee Company and Blue Collar Coffee Company each serve a variety of tasty drinks.
#3 Interurban Trail: Cedarburg to Port Washington
Cyclists may enjoy a fresh cup of coffee in three cities on the Interurban Trail. Fiddleheads Coffee, Java House, and Cedarburg Coffee Roastery are all located in downtown Cedarburg, not far from the trail. All three offer tasty beverages and delicious baked goods.
Another Fiddleheads Coffee is located on the trail in Grafton. It has a spacious patio to enjoy a coffee drink. Not far from there is BSG Coffee and Cocktails.
Port Washington has several coffeehouses close to the trail. Popular coffee shops are Java Dock Café, Banjole’s Brews, and Sacred Bean Coffee Company. Trail-goers may enjoy their coffee treat while relishing the scenic view of Port Washington harbor and Lake Michigan.
#4 Interurban Trail: Brown Deer to Cedarburg
On the Interurban Trail, coffee beverages may be enjoyed in two cities. In Mequon, not far from the path are Colectivo Coffee and Interurban Coffeehouse Bakery and Juicery. Colectivo Coffee patrons enjoy tasty coffee with breakfast items on a cozy pocket park patio. Interurban Coffeehouse serves Milwaukee’s own Stone Creek Coffee and numerous juice concoctions. Their bakery produces a variety of breads, rolls, and pastries.
Cedarburg also has several establishments that cater to coffee-lovers. A delicious cup of coffee is served at Fiddleheads Coffee, Java House, and Cedarburg Coffee Roastery. They are all located blocks off the trail.
#5 Glacial Drumlin State Trail: Sullivan to Wales
In the southeastern Wisconsin village of Dousman is Kiki’s- Coffee, Ice Cream, and Treats. This charming shop sells a variety of coffee and tea beverages, along with delicious baked good. Kiki’s offers a “playful” atmosphere, and prides itself as being “Your new favorite spot.” It is located a few blocks north of the trail on N. Main Street.
In Wales, Mamma D’s Coffee is sits alongside the Glacial Drumlin State Trail. Housed in a historic old bank, the coffee shop is a popular spot for trail-goers and local residents. In addition to coffee drinks, Mamma D’s serves baked goods, breakfast items, and a variety of sandwiches, wraps, and salads. Their outdoor patio is popular, and on summer weekends they feature local live music during lunch.
#6 Eisenbahn State Trail: Kewaskum to West Bend
As the Eisenbahn State Trail runs through the eastern central Wisconsin city of West Bend, it passes a trendy coffeehouse called The Hub. It’s an eco-conscious, community-supporting café located in a repurposed historic building. Menu items are thoughtfully sourced, including fair trade coffee roasted by Stone Creek Coffee in Milwaukee. The café offers a great selection of signature and seasonal drink options. And their breakfast items and sandwiches taste great. Don’t forget to tip- proceeds are distributed to 50+ local nonprofits. The Hub also houses the Volunteer Center of Washington County.
#7 Glacial Drumlin State Trail: Cottage Grove to Lake Mills
In southeast Wisconsin, the Glacial Drumlin State Trail begins in Cottage Grove. Next to the trailhead is the Olde Towne Coffee House. Their menu includes specialty coffee, pastries, hot skillets, soups, salads, and sandwiches. The café is open for breakfast and lunch, and has indoor and outdoor seating. In Deerfield, just two blocks north of the trail, is The Deerfield Coffeehouse. They offer coffee beverages, drinks, and breakfast items. The coffeehouse has a bike rack and spacious indoor seating area.
#8 The “400” State Trail: Reedsburg to La Valle
Near the start of the “400” State Trail in Reedsburg are two great coffee shops. They are located in Reedsburg’s downtown area, not far from the trailhead. Deli Bean is a cozy coffeehouse offering quiche, panini, and other quick bites in a casual setting. Buck Wild Kitchen and Coffee specializes in organic and eco-friendly products. They offer small-batch, locally roasted coffee, along with pastries and other treats.
#9 Beloit Riverside Corridor Trails
When biking Beloit’s downtown trails, coffee-lovers may want to visit Bagels & More or Flying Pig Treat Shop. They both offer flavorful espressos, macchiatos, cappuccinos, mochas, lattes and much more. Bagels & More has tempting specialty drinks named Snickers, Butter Fingers, Mint Mocha Royale, and Black Forest. They also serve breakfast and lunch menu items. Enjoy a bagel, breakfast skillet, or quiche, along with a cup of java.
#10 Bugline Trail: Sussex to Menominee Falls
In the southeastern Wisconsin village of Sussex on Main Street is Loca Latte. This pooular coffeehouse is located in the downtown areaa on Main Street. The Bugline Trail passes directly in front of the shop, so the business especially welcomes trail-goers. The menu includes a variety of gournet coffee drinks, sandwiches, baked goods, and desserts. Their main feature is a large outdoor patio with central fire pit.
#11 Newton Blackmour State Trail: Black Creek to Shiocton
Trail-goers on the Newton Blackmour State Trail in Northeastern Wisconsin should defintely stop at Mile 22 Roastery & Café when passing through the village of Black Creek. Thhis family-owned coffeeshop is less that 175 yards north of the trail on Main Street, and is a popular spot in town. Hot and cold coffee beverages are served, as are breakfast and lunch menu items. Their breakfast burrito is a favorite!
#12 Red Cedar State Trail: Downsville to Chippewa River State Trail
On the Red Cedar State Trail in northwestern Wisconsin, it’s 350 yards from the Downsville trailhead to Scatterbrain Café. Here, trail-goers find artisanal, small-batch coffee from certified organic and fair trade beans. The coffee beans are roasted in-house. The food menu has homemade soups, and sides made with local artisan bread, meats, cheese, and produce. There’s a bike rack, and indoor or outdoor seating.
#13 Rountree Branch Trail: Platteville
Along the Rountree Branch Trail in the southwestern Wisconsin city of Platteville are three chain restaurants where trail-goers may enjoy a snack or meal. Adjacent to the path by U.S. Business Highway 151 are Dunkin’ Donuts, Culvers, and Baskin-Robbins. There’s plenty of food and drink options with these three restaurants being so close to the trail.
#14 White River State Trail: Elkhorn to Burlington
In the southeastern Wisconsin community of Springfield, Pedal & Cup is located on the White River State Trail next to the trailhead. It is housed in an old depot. The unique shop features fresh roasted coffee, along with live music, and bicycle rentals. The store has a gift shop and café. Pedal & Cup is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
#15 Pine Line Trail: Prentice to Westboro
The Rail Trail Café serves guests in the northern Wisconsin community of Ogema. In addition to a selection of coffee beverages, the small-town diner has a full-service menu for every meal. The café is a convenient stop for cyclists traveling on the Pine Line Trail.
#16 CamRock Trail
The 2.4-mile CamRock Trail is located in southeastern Wisconsin. The path begins in Cambridge, travels south through CamRock County Park, and ends in Rockdale. Before or after a ride, trail-goers may want to visit Cambridge Market Café. This restaurant and specialty food and gifts shop is situated on Main Street in downtown Cambridge, only 400 feet from the tailhead. The café offers handcrafted specialty coffees and beverages, baked goods, and breakfast and lunch items served all day.
#17 Sugar River State Trail: New Glarus to Monticello
The Sugar River State Trail begins in the southwestern Wisconsin village of New Glarus. Near the trailhead, and right off the path, is Fat Cat Coffee Works. This small coffee shop offerss a variety of coffee drinks and other beverages. With a full menu, it is great place to visit for breakfast or lunch. Delicious baked goods are offered also. Fat Cat Coffee Works is located on Railroad Street. The trail runs behind the shop.
#18 Lower Yahara River Trail
Less than 300 feet from the Lower Yahara River Trail in the Madison metropolitan area is McFarland House Café. The quaint café is situated in the McFarland House, a large historic house that was built in 1857 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It’s Greek Revival architectural style makes the house quite visible in the downtown area of McFarland. From the trail, turn north on Exhange street. A variety of tasty coffee drinks, sandwiches, and baked goods await trailgoers who detour from the trail.
#19 Stower Seven Lakes State Trail: Amery to Wanderoos
Located one block north of the start of the trail in the northwestern Wisconsin city of Amery is Ellie’s Ice Cream & Coffee. The local shop offers a variety of hot and cold coffee drinks, each featuring different java flavors. Their coffee comes from Backroads Coffee in Hayward, Wisconsin. There’s other beverages on the menu alops, such as smoothies and phosphates. Home-baked dessert and snack goods for sale include cookies, muffins and scones baked.
#20 WE Energies/MRK Trail
The MRK Trail travels through Caledonia and Racine in southeastern Wisconsin. Where the trail crosses Wisconsin State Highway 32 is Mocha Lisa Coffeehouse. This popular coffeehouse is within view of the trail. It is located in a late 19th century farmhouse. Mocha Lisa Coffehouse offers a variety of coffee drinks, smoothies, and other beverages. The food menu includes baked goods and soups. A pleasant patio area is enjoyable in warm weather, and indoor seating is also available.
#21 Lake to Lake Trail
The Lake to Lake Trail travels for 7 miles through Kettle Moraine State Forest-Northern Unit. It connects Long Lake and Mauthe Lake Recreation Areas. Along the way, it passes through the community of Dundee. There, 3 Sweets Bakery and Café, greets trail-goers looking for a delicious coffee drink, tasty bakery item, or full meal. Their full service specialty bar features Colectivo-brand coffee. Smoothies, shakes, frappes, and protein drinks are available too. Visitors may also enjoy flavorful breads, muffins, and croissants from the bakery. A full food menu is offered for breakfast and lunch.
#22 Great River State Trail: Trempealeau To Marshland
The Great River State Trail passes through Trempealeau in west central Wisconsin. Not far off the trail in the downtown area of this Mississippi River village is Ma’s Kitchen@The Station. This coffee shop and deli serves hot espresso drinks, coffees, and teas, as well as frosty cold coffees, smoothies, and other refreshing beverages. The deli offers homemade, comfort food made with fresh ingredients. Visitors may dine in our take their meal to go.
#23 Tomorrow River State Trail: Plover to Amherst Junction
Mission Coffee House is in the Artist & Fare Shopping Center in Plover, not far from central Wisconsin’s Tomorrow River State Trail. They roast their own beans and serve a variety of hot and iced coffees. Food items include wraps, sandwiches, soups, and salads. The coffeehouse serves the community by donating $1 for every pound of coffee sold to local nonprofits. Public restrooms are in the shopping center, but there’s no outside bike racks.
#24 Tomorrow River State Trail: Scandinavia to Manawa
Several hundred yards north of the trailhead in Scandinavia is Scandihus, LLC. When biking the Tomorrow River State Trail in east central Wisconsin, cyclists may want to visit this shop to indulge in a specialty coffee and baked goods. The store also sells gifts and artwork that are unique to Scandinavian culture. It’s a local center for art, music, and literature.
#25 The “400” State Trail: Wonewoc to Elroy
Only one block off the trail in the west central Wisconsin village of Wonewoc is Center Street Coffee, Ice, Cream, and Treats. Indulge in an espresso, latte, cappuccino, frappe, steamer, Americano, or other coffee or tea. Muffins, scones, cinnamon rolls and other delectables are served. They are located in downtown Wonewoc in a historic old building.
#26 Badger State Trail: Madison to Belleville
Near library square trailhead in Belleville is Lingonberry Llama. The coffee house sells handcrafted coffee, teas, and smoothies. It features delicious sandwiches, breakfast bites, and specialty pastries too. It’s a cozy stop when biking this southwest Wisconsin trail.
#27 & #28 Fond du Lac Loop & Old Plank Road Trail: Fond du Lac to County Hwy G
Not far from the Prairie Trail on the Fond du Lac Loop and start of the Old Plank Road Trail are Starbucks and Freshfit Café. These coffee shops are located at the trail’s intersection with Wisconsin State Highway 23. Go east on a short spur trail to reach both coffee shops.
